On Wednesday, October 11, individuals and organizations working to build and strengthen Georgia’s vibrant international business community came together for Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Georgia International Awards. The Georgia International Awards is the event of the year for the international business community.
In order to be selected as a nominee, the outstanding work that MAP has done this past year was submitted for consideration. That being said, MAP provides around $300 million worth of vital medicines and health supplies to more than 10 million children and families in need. MAP not only assists with providing medicines, but also helps with water sanitation, disease prevention and disaster relief. In fact, in 2016 MAP International sent $4.6 million in medical supplies to an area of Haiti ravaged by Hurricane Matthew. The company also met a huge milestone this year. In January 2017, MAP International sent its $6 billionth shipment of medicines to people who were in dire need of these supplies: Syrian and Iraqi refugees in Jordan.
In addition to these accomplishments, MAP International CEO Steve Stirling launched the Bill Foege Global Health Awards this year. This award was created in honor of Dr. Bill Foege, a folk hero in the global health community. The annual award will recognize people and organizations who contribute substantially to the progress of global health. On Sunday, June 11, 2017, the Atlanta health community and business leaders met for the first inaugural Bill Foege Global Health Awards presented by MAP International.
Our team at Hope-Beckham showed our support for MAP International and CEO Steve Stirling, and attended the event at The Atlanta History Center. We were met with familiar faces in the international business industry and heard success stories from notable companies such as Habitat for Humanity, InterContinental Hotels Group and Toyo Tire North American Manufacturing, Inc.
