This past month has been a whirlwind for Hope-Beckham Inc.! Between new clients, planning an inaugural event and gearing up for HBI’s 25th anniversary, we have been staying busy. However, one of the biggest highlights this month was our team’s trip to the Big Apple for PR News’ Platinum PR Awards. This year, we were delighted to learn that HBI had been nominated for not one, but two different awards! Our client campaigns for the Celebration Bowl and The Integral Group LLC were both going to be honored at this year’s event.

In addition to being finalists in two categories, three of our team members also got to fly to New York together to represent the company. (Quite the “office outing,” if we do say so ourselves!)

Account Director Wendy Hsiao, along with Assistant Account Executive Sierra Martin, and me, Account Executive Victoria Croft booked our flights and were off to the big city!

The team arrived at the Atlanta airport and although it was an early morning, it was nothing some coffee and Bojangles couldn’t fix.

Once we touched down in New York, it was time do some exploring and get lunch. Wendy is a frequent visitor in New York and knew of the perfect place to grab some grub. We visited Chelsea Market and ate at Los Tacos No. 1, and it’s safe to say they were some of the best tacos we had ever tried. (They even made it onto The Flay List.)

From there, we ventured into the city towards our hotel. We were staying just around the corner from Rockefeller Center, which meant we had plenty of landmarks in our area to check out before the awards ceremony. We stopped for photo ops at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, the famous Prometheus statue at Rockefeller Center, Saks Fifth Avenue and Radio City Music Hall.

Afterwards, it was time to prepare for PR News’ Platinum PR Awards Gala.We set off later that night to the venue, and while we were anxious for the outcome of the ceremony, we were mostly excited to simply be represented at such a large annual event.

There was a great turn out this year, and we were able to connect with numerous high caliber communicators and PR pros from all around the country. There were over 50 different categories of awards being presented at the event, and hundreds of companies and campaigns had been nominated for these awards.

While HBI didn’t come home with first place, we didn’t come back empty-handed. We received an honorable mention award for The Integral Group LLC in the Anniversary category and an honorable mention award for the Celebration Bowl in the Sports Marketing category. In fact, we learned that the Sports Marketing category was a signature category because it’s one of the hardest to even qualify for – so we count our honorable mention as a serious win!

Our team worked incredibly hard for countless hours, weeks and months to make these campaigns as successful as they were, and we were proud to see them recognized. Not only were we able to celebrate being nationally ranked for our hard work, we were able to bond as a team, celebrate each other and give these fantastic campaigns one last hoorah!

Thank you, New York City, and congratulations to all of those recognized at the 2019 PR News’ Platinum PR Awards!
